No spark on 03 yukon

We were trying to start the 03 yukon and heard the starter self destruct, so banged on it and momentarily all lights inside went out , battery wire was smoking so disconect it , bought a starter prior issues with older batter so bought one , now it turns over great but will not start and is getting no spark ?

Check your fuses. Especially ones marked PCM and IGN.

Also look for any fuse that has "IGN" in the description -- some start with "TBC..." There are several in the driver's side inside fusebox and a few in the underhood fusebox.
