I just recently started hearing a noise on acceleration. It only happens sometimes and is like a loud clicking or whistling noise. I think it might be the belt. A friend said the serpentine belt or something, I am not knowledgeable with cars. We just drove it to Durango from Albuquerque with no noise but yesterday is when it started to make the noise. Any help is needed and thanks.

-Does it make noise only when its Wet out or early morning?
-Whatever you do DONT USE BELT CONDITIONER!!! It can BREAK your belt
-A new serpentine belt is only like $25 too

Guide to do it:
Use a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar with a shallow socket (I think the size is 5/8 or 11/16 but not positive), put the socket & breaker bar on the bolt for the tensioner pulley (smooth surfaced plastic pulley on a spring loaded arm - usually fairly close to the water pump pulley). With the breaker bar you should have enough leverage(it's a strong spring though so you might have to put a little muscle into it) to rotate the tensioner pulley and arm(usually rotates away from the water pump) allowing enough slack to get the belt on and off. Sometimes instead of using a socket on the pulley bolt if you look at the belt tensioner arm there will be a square hole in it for the square drive part of the breaker bar or ratchet to fit into. Hopefully this will help you - but if it's the belt routing diagram you need I might be able to find it in a service manual of mine and upload a picture of it for you. Good Luck

Thanks a lot Anthony. It makes the noise anytime. It actually started when I tried to put the a/c on (usually just drive with windows down) Now the loud click is whenever I accelerate, then I just let go of pedal and push again and it's ok until reaching a higher speed.

Can I find a serpentine belt online?
I usually can get my friends dad to work on the KON but he has been sick and I don't want to try myself (i will probably break the whole thing) so I will probably have to take to a shop.

Sounds like the clutch on the a/c compressor! You say it only does it on acceleration, with they a/c on, so that's what I would assume it is! A new Delphi compressor @ Oreilly is like $460, you would need to replace the dryer too, and all belts while ur at it. Also, a case of 134a, can't remember how many it takes.

Check your Idler pulley when mine went bad it made a clicking noise,I heard it when the truck was idling so I pop the hood and listen to where it was coming from and I saw this little piece back in forth causing the clicking noise on the idler pulley. I would try to trace it down and see where its coming from if possible.

Last week I heard a squealing sounds from my car, as I read this thread I got some ideas that it could be a serpentine belt,so I went to a car repair shop and they found the same thing.. and they also told me that when I heard the same sound, the belt might be bad. Thanks for this, now I already bought a replacement. No squealing sound at all! its really a big Help!

ok it could be a few things

1. does it only do it when the A/C is on?
2. does the noise get louder during engine load?
3. does the sound get louder under rpms only?
4. is it louder at cold starts?

Hate to chime in on questions intended for someone else but I have the exact same symptons and the answer to these questions is yes to all.
