So my 04 Yukon has some interesting noises under the drivers side dash. For lack of a better description I would say it sounds like a cross between a pinball machine and one of those wind up monkeys that flip over. That kind of hollow, plasticky, gear noise. I wonder if this is related to my heater issue or maybe has something to do with the hydro boost system..... At first i though noisy valve train but that's not the case, I'm at a loss.

Sounds like a malfunctioning blend door or position actuator. If you are having heater issues then this would indicate that you probably need a new blend door. There are a lot of posts on this topic.

I have an 04 Tahoe that was doing this. I cleaned out the ac drain and it hasn't made the noise since.

Interesting. I've had a damp floor board on the drivers side for a little bit. I thought it was the windshield but that's been replaced along with two blend door actuators.
