oem wheels to 22's....brake help/advice

I know this has been covered before but new products come out and new opinions are developed. Im going from oem to 22's and was really just going to keep stock brake set-up but prob. not very wise so i am wondering will just a set of hawk pads and stainless lines be sufficient? Where can i find great deals on pads, lines and possible rotors? shoot me some opinions overall. Thanks fellas.

I personally like doing pads/rotors together. Not sure where your wear levels are. A good set of aftermarket rotors and pads is good, and cheaper than OEM but might not gain you much. Stainless steel lines make things feel stiffer but IMHO don't do too much for stopping power. What you need is more leverage, and the best way to get that is a larger rotor. I know on Audis you can add A8 brakes to things like A4's and A6's but I am not sure what the options are on these trucks.

I am guessing most members here that have 22,24,26 inch rims have not gone to a Big Brake Kit. I am also curious to see how their braking was affected.

Get you a set of bigger rotors plus pads and you will be good to go.

Check out Hawk pads like mentioned, and Powerslot rotors, and the lines, that should do it.

good deal thanks guys......just put the 22's on tonight and braking wasnt really noticablly that different.....very suprised. Pads and rotors will be a damn good improvement i just cant go very big with the rotors because i use my stock 16's in the winter. wonder wha the largest i can get away with is on stock rims???

I am in the same boat at the OP. I don't mean to Thread Jack, but have you decided on which ones your gonna get? Can anyone post up a good link to rotors and pads. I looked on Tire rack but geeze i have no idea on which ones would be best.

I don't have $4-5 grand to drop on a big brake kit either. I am hoping to be able to get pads and rotors under or right at $300. I might be able do go slightly higher but not much.

Digging up an old thread here....what did you guys decide to do regarding rotor upgrade and what pads did you pair the rotors with? I'm going to be due for some brake work soon and I don't want to dump money into the garbage OEM parts. I'd like to upsize the rotors some so they don't look so incredibly small behind my 24's.

I can tell you going from aftermarket 22s and 305s DOWN to OEM 20's and 275s was a huge improvement. something like 40 lbs per wheel. Probably shaved 20 feet or more off my 60-0, and a second off the 0-60. It felt like I had jsut installed a BBK and slew of power upgrades.

It kept me from rearending an ambulance that decided to come to a complete stop in the fast lane on i10 in the middle of a Tstorm. Missed him by 3 feet. With the 22s I would have folded his POS aluminum Box like an accordion.
