Oil Changes?

for my 2016 Tahoe, i got my first one at 1k and then plan on every 3k after. i dont trust the every 7k but i'm old school. i only have 6k miles on mine

What are people thinking about changing the other fluids and rear-end diff oil?

Back to suggesting only the dealer do your oil changes since im sure someone will mention the dealership technically cant refuse warranty work because of who or where the oil changes were done. The dealership can refuse warranty work for whatever reason pops to mind if the owner doesnt know thier rights and enforce them. Also on the same token sometimes it may require more work and time than you want or have available to force a dealership to uphold thier warranty. So on the previous mention most places have oil change deals for whatever reason so there is no point in doing it yourself. I can have my local gm shop do an oil change on my pontiac for 20 bucks or i can spend 30 and do it myself.

I am a service consultant at my local Chevy dealership and we recommend your oil be changed every 5000 miles if you are using some form of synthetic oil. Whether it be multi or full synthetic. If you go by the oil life monitor then we recommend coming in at no less than 25% oil life. And yes Chevy will be a lot more likely to help you if you have engine trouble and all your service work has been done at a dealership. I had a lady come in the other day and her oil life was at 0% and was 11,000 miles on a multi synthetic oil change.

I had a mechanic from my dealer tell me that GM is getting really strict on engines that use the 0w20 oil. If there is any internal engine problems oil is the first thing they look at. If you had the service done outside of the dealer they will do an oil analysis to make sure the correct oil was used. So keep good records.

That being said, with an 8 quart capacity and synthetic oil I see no reason why it should not go 7,000 mile between changes.
