The point being, it's not normal if GM has a dozen TSBs for this. Additionally, I traded a supercharged Cobalt for this truck without this problem. I have another Cobalt SS in the garage without this problem, and I spent 7 years in the rental car business, and with the several thousand cars, regardless of year, make, and model, I've never seen this. It's evidently a problem when it only affects 1 model year. Now, the dealer has given me a log to record oil consumption. I'm more than willing to share it with you guys when something comes up.

Edit: Just looking at my receipt for Monday's oil consumption. Repairs were an updated left valve cover (gm part # 12570427) and a cleaner for carbon (88861802). The tech did note they found oil puddling in the intake manifold and the PCV system is working normally. If this level of oil consumption is normal then why is GM writing a TSB that says to use these parts?

I think 1qt at 2k is more like what they can get away with without fixing it. I’d like to see a poll on how much oil everyone uses. My guess is most will not be near that rate.

The poll should also add which type of oil is being used. I have an 07 with ~66k miles, using regular dyno oil and no oil consumption issues (knock on wood!).

I'm back from the dealer. They told me to log oil checks and any consumption. They said bring it to them for oil or do it myself and log what was added. This all seems pretty ridiculous because anyone that has any brains at all knows you could fake this and drain oil out and say you added a quart at 700 miles. I'm not sure what this will prove. Sounds like complete BS to me. They said there is a certain protocol they have to follow and replace items in certain steps to see if what they do fixes the problem. How bout replacing the damn motor, that is what they should do. I have never owned a vehicle that I had to add oil to between changes until now.

Did they say anything about a new PCV Valve design? Look in the other thread about this issue in this section of the forum, a member alluded to that.

They did not do the PCV or the Valve cover. They basically topped off the oil, which they charged me for, and said keep an eye on it. Pretty lame if you ask me. Why not be pro active and fix the damn thing. I have a Service Request open with GM Customer Service. They actually called back today but I missed the call.

Sounds like you should go in there and say WTF!?

Agreed, I'm gonna see what the GM rep says. When she left me the voice mail she was hard to understand, you know, 3rd world call center. I will try the nice approach first. Then if that doesn't work I will go from there. I'm actually thinking of trading it in on a low mileage 08 they have. But from what I understand the 08's weren't any better. Sure wish I had the Jeep Commander Limited back I traded in on this thing.
