I have a 2000 Tahoe with a 5.3. I was changing the fluid in my difs and case and took a closer look at my leak. I thought it was the oil pan, but there is oil all the way up to the heads on both sides. I've read every post on here about the leak and they all say it could be four different things. Inside the bell housing is dry. I de-greased the lower half, drove it around and there was oil on both sides of the housing. I will post some pics tomorrow as this is quite the conundrum.
