I took a little roadtrip today in my 03 5.3 tahoe and I noticed the oil pressure guage was pegged at 80psi. It does go back to zero when I shut the truck off but right back up to 80 when I start it. Everything seems and sounds alright but it's got me quite paranoid. I haven't had time to really look into things yet but hopefully somebody can steer me in the right direction as to what to check. I'm leaning towards the guage itself or some sensor or ???

Anybody ran into this before??

Thanks!!

Probally a bad sending unit. Whats it read with the key on, engine off? if you unplug the harness and ground it, the gauge should read zero. This means the actual gauge is ok and most likely sending unit needs to be replaced..

It reads right at 60 with the key on engine off. Any helpful tips on the sending unit and possible cost?

yea it's on the back of the block behind the manifold. You need a special socket i believe.
