Wait till your old like me (God willing and the creek don't rise) you'll be on your belly cause your back don't bend like that no moe.

I get it (and am also old). The last one I did was on my belly, with a board across the engine compartment and moving blankets for padding. :(

So am I, lol. I started on my belly with a moving quilt underneath, but it started hurting after a while. I moved into the sitting in the engine bay position near the end when I was finishing up and my wife happened to come out and took my picture because she thought it looked funny

I went from the top, and used a ratchet that has a swivel type head, like pictured below.

That's what I ended up using, along with a universal-joint connected to the oil sensor socket I bought at AutoZone. There was only like 9* of rotation, and it was tough, but it came out.

My gf was laughing her ass off because I'm 6'2" and couldn't fit/sit on top of the engine, so I was doing planks on top of the headlight to get the right position and leverage.

I didn't need any swivel sockets. I just pulled the brake booster hose off and that let me use a straight 3/8" extension. Took me an hour to figure that out, but once I pulled that hose off the intake manifold, it took me 5 minutes to remove and replace the sensor. Of course, the Dorman sensor I used lasted 2 whole days before it went bad too. So I get to do it all over again. Note to self.....use an OEM sensor.

Took me 5 hours to do mine. Biggest problem was getting the socket over the sending unit (after getting the connector off). That piece of plastic shroud on the back of the manifold was tilting the socket just enough so it wouldn't go on. Once it was pushed down on the sender everything went well. Although I had to use a piece of plywood set on top of the engine to lay on.

Finding your way to make it work, I love it.

I used to always love working on trucks because of how much easier it was to work under the car compared to coupes and sedans, not realizing the complete opposite when working in the engine bay. I literally had to pull out my ladder for certain repairs, i'm too big and scary to lay on top like you

So I finally got my oil pressure socket on and the thing won't budge. I sprayed a little wd40 on it. Was gonna try using a breaker bar for more leverage, but I'm afraid if I crank it too hard it will break. Any suggestions?

I don't know how you guys do it... I have normal size girl hands and had a b**ch of a time getting to the sensor.

TIA
I'm having the same issue, I can't break it loose and now the socket is stuck on there, how did you end up doing it
