I don't see how that can be better than just using good (quality brand/synthetic) engine oil. It says it "helps protect against engine wear by providing a thicker cushion between moving engine parts". Sounds like it's intended more for high-mileage engines that have looser bearing clearances. If you have such an engine, just run a heavier weight oil.

I run Mobil 1 in my Denali and Sienna and use Castrol in my others. If you use a quality oil and change it when you're supposed to, you should never have an oil related issue.

I saw the commercial, but mileage from car to car can vary greatly. I'd rather go by mileage

Never heard of it (I don't watch TV) but it makes sense. I'm sure they could easily make a synthetic oil to last a year. What they can't control are all of the other factors that contaminate the oil- dirt that passes the air filter, contaminants in the fuel, moisture content that varies by environment and engine use, etc. Even if I had oil that could last that long, it would still have to be changed to get all that other crap out.

Yea not to mention what about vehicles such as ours trucks, which are known to comsume oil. Working in a shop, I've seen when people neglect their cars. Sludge, burnt valves, streched chains....

Give her a drain and fill with conventional oil 1qt shy of full and add 1 qt tranny fluid. Run for 500 miles and drain and put in synthetic and she will be good to go.
