Interesting that they have you come back for that.

They could have just pulled a vacuum (which they should have done anyway before filling) and watched to see if it held to confirm whether you have a leak or not.

Lol "magic light" its just a UV light.

Can be a bit difficult to see it leaking during use over the time it takes to recharge and air conditioner.

Standard recharge leak checks also aren't fool proof. They generally pull a vaccuum and wait 20 to 30 mins and observe any changes in pressure. With that said, that vaccuum can pull a joint closed and seal something that would otherwise leak under pressure. They also don't check your charge ports because that's what the machine hooks up to.

So, with that said, my bet is either on one of the charge ports, or on a soft piece such as flex line or an O ring - that's where you generally see the seals under vaccuum but leaks under pressure behavior.

In my '03 Tahoe the leak was caused by the condenser (?) tank in the rear passenger side rusting through. There's a hose near the left rear tire that is supposed to drain the tank. Said hose had become clogged with several years of dog hair.

Thats true. On my gmt400 I had a leaky charge port. It held for about a week until it stopped working again. Luckily I was only like $30 worth of r134a into it.
