i could never do a full windshield here in NJ, how would they scrape off the inspection sticker? lol not to mention, its hard enough to see out the windows at night in the rain with 35 up front and 20% around the back. NJ law say you can pretty much paint the back windows if you like, front windows/doors are to remain factory, not even a brow is allowed. by the written law.

The past couple of weeks I have seen plenty of vehicles in New Jersey [Bergen,Hudson and Passaic County] with around 20% or less tint on the front 2 windows. I thought maybe they finally changed the law but you Jersey guys say no. Guess the Leos have not caught up with them just yet.

I would not tint the full windshield either even though I would love to [with that nasty blazing burning sun in Miami] for the same reasons you said. Plus their are constant monsoons everyday from May-November.

how does one get over on inspection like that? cant expect the cops to know that when you roll by with a no sticker and a 300 dollar fine they love to write.

i remember when commercial trucks were self inspection.
When I went to get it inspected I was told I didn't need to, and I was given a card to show if I was ever stopped.

No tint allowed on the front windows, but people do it anyway. I've seen tinted windshields in Asbury Park. It all depends whether you get pulled over or not. I have tint on mine, but you can see through it. Got pulled over twice with no tickets. GF got pulled over once and got a ticket. No rhyme or reason to the logic.

by me it seems they are not really enforcing the tint laws, lots of cars are blacked out.

Since january first 2017 here in new york state vehicle inspections include tint and you can be failed for it. I think 70 percent of light must pass through to pass. I`m just happy i don`t do them anymore because i`d hate to inform customers that they failed for tint.

Yeah, i pull it off the side windows, have it inspected, retint... haven’t been yanked yet. That law has been on the books for years tho @Sasquatch ,which im sure you know but now with new law, they involved inspection stations and cops can pull you just for tint now as opposed to secondary offense ya know?

funny you say that about inspection too. its been that way for some time now.

only the commercial light duty trucks get a real inspection at this point. like they lift the front end off the ground and actually check the front end for play. pretty sure they dont have a damn clue wtf they are feeling for, the 05 dump passes every year and its needed a pitman and idler for as long. the check engine light its on, (standard evap BS ) so i clear codes and it passes, how i do not know cause i know all systems are not ready, and they do a sniffer on it. might be why it passes?

oddly enough i just took the 2015 crewcab dump for inspection, passed, i did the walk around to make sure all the lights worked, but missed the three marker lights middle of the rear, one light was out, as i walked past it at inspection, im crap here we go, wasted time..... i also noticed one back up light was out when i was backing the boss up to the trailer same day lol

when i first got my regal, i passed with a airbag and abs light on, a smashed side view mirror and 4 bald tires. back in the 80's you'd been sent to the end of the line for your fail sticker.

if you ever waited for systems to be ready, it can take some time. i got a tuner for the regal, so when i went to inspection they failed me for all systems not being ready yet aka my o2 sensor, (everything else is deleted already) so i went home, deleted the up stream o2, went back, passed, drove back home un deleted, alls well. the fact i live a mile from the inspection station has its perks.
@Scottydoggs , here's what I was talking about.20180602_165715.jpg 20180602_165729.jpg

got to say, had not heard of that one. pretty damn cool.

i wonder if i could just up the gvw on the registration, and be free of that too.

we got both work trucks gvw to 16,500, the trucks are good to 12,500 packed on the scale. come off dry at 7500 ish. the new truck should weigh more dry, crew cab and a foot longer dump on the 2015.

we need to have em so high cause when the county cops here pull you over they weigh the trailer and the truck and add it up. then nail ya for being over weight. trailers registered at 4,000 lbs. what its rated for.

Are they registered commercial? Says "Certain registered passenger Vehicles".
