Hello everyone, I am getting ready to replace my front and rear differential fluids. A long with the transfer case fluid. I’m going to use 75-90 Amsoil for the diffs. I found through the threads on here where someone noted the fluid capacity’s so thank you for that. But I’m not sure if I am supposed to use an additive in the rear diff. I’ve heard mixed opinions on this. Most people say that if you have a LSD then you do need to add it. But I’m not sure what type of diff I have either. Also I know I have to remove the cover on the rear one, and I can’t find a straight answer on if I’m going to need a new gasket or if mine has a reusable one. I have a 2007 Yukon Denali. This will be the first time I change these fluids.

Put the fluid in that your owner's manual recommends. Have a new gasket at the ready, if needed. Make sure to sight down the sealing surface on the cover and use a ball peen hammer to flatten back out, if needed. Your manual will also give you capacities.

My manual doesn’t say anything about additives. It just says use 75-90. How can you tell what type of diff you have?

If your RPO code sticker says G80, you have the LSD. If the manual says nothing about additives, then use no additives.
