I am driving my Hoe from Texas to NH at the end of May. It 1900 almost and I was hoping to get 400 miles per tank as it will be all highway. Mine is an 01 4X4. K@N drop in and getting just a muffler added (flow) this weekend so no major mods. Think I can get 400 a tank?

That might be a bit optimistic. I drove my 2001 4x4 from Texas to Florida and averaged around 16.5mpg. But I put it on cruise at 70mph and was not carrying any cargo or anybody but myself in the vehicle. Oh yeah. Since it was winter time, I did not have to run the A/C the entire way.

I think it's possible. I have the same scenario in July, driving to Cincinnati. Debating between drving the yukon 4x4, the wifey's Honda Odyssey or renting something like a smaller suv. If you have a 26 gal tank and get 15.5-16 MPG which you should then you will get 400+ on a tank. The Honda would be better on gas but the road noise drives me crazy.

Depends greatly on speed you're driving. Highway ~55mph I got last winter 19.7mpg when going up north. On the way back ~70mph got 16.5mpg

my best ever was 370 on a tank..that was 4 people in the truck with bags..fill up, get on highway doing 74, get off and fill up on E...i was at about 18 mpg i think..that was steady cruise the entire time in colder weather

I appreciate everyone's feed back. More is def welcome. I have got 340 in mixed driving but it was at the almost $4 per gallon time and I was driving like a grandma.

I get over 400 gallons to a tank almost every time I drive all highway. My average city and highway driving is about 17mpg, but all highway with the AC off and the cruise set, I get between 20 and 21. Strictly highway driving on a road trip, I can get over 450 miles on a tank before the light comes on. Oh, and I live in Ohio, so it's nothing but flat here.

5.3L 4X4 with stock just about everything except for Spectre CAI.

i know this goes against everyone elses findings but all i can tell you is what my 2001 4x4 did. stock with a CAI. 4 people full of luggage. 230 mile one way trip. on the way up at 75 it got 14.5 mpg. coming back got 17.3 mpg at 85 and hitting the speed limiter a few times passing people.

I've done a couple of longer road-trips where I've gotten 18-19mpg and hit the 400 miles per tank mark. Actually got my best mileage last summer with a fully loaded vehicle, complete with roof-box on top. Hit just over 19mpg.

And that's in a 6.0 Denali with no mods.
