The injector wire being loose is a very MINOR issue when compared to a completely plugged up cat. The truck was showing a lean condition on bank 2, but it was also down at least 150hp from what it should be, as it was running SLOWER at high rpm than a stock 5.3L did 100% because of that plugged cat. There have been guys that have actually destroyed their engines because of a plugged cat.

The injector harness having come loose had absolutely nothing to do with the problem that was causing the misfires and poor running that was encountered when I updated the tune, as everything was connected properly. I've driven 50 miles before with an injector that was losing connection and it does run rough, but absolutely nothing like was experienced.

There at Rickords, connections were wiggled and checked all over the engine, that is likely when the injector harness was bumped and it started to work itself loose.

Go ahead and put the PLUGGED cat back on, the engine will absolutely have the exact same problems it had.

I'm not disagreeing with that at all for the record. Those of you who have met JK in person know he's a very laid back guy. So, when Jeff removed his cats and drove down the street..the text I got was "HOLY SHIT!"

Even though the injector was an minor issue, I knew right there the cat was the major root of all evil :waytogo:

I know the loose injector harness happened later that day on my way home and wasn't causing issues earlier during the tune. Everything that was happening with the truck before and after was strictly from the clogged cats, just like Justin said. The loose injector problem that arose the same day just added another problem and threw BOSS and I off. The truck wasn't driveable from both the clogged cats and loose injector harness, so BOSS let me use his truck to drive back to Austin with while he diagnosed the p0200 and found the bad injector plug. After I drove back up to DFW and picked up my truck, I went through the p0300 diag tables again then removed the cats and took care of the problem.

The P0300 is a generic misfire code and doesn't necessarily mean there is a true misfire. It only means there is something causing the CKP sensor to detect a variation in the crank's rotational speed between cylinders, which can be caused by a lot of things, in this case, clogged cats.

I hope that it now has the power that you were expecting to see with it. I know that it has to run very well just based on personal experience with that exact system in multiple vehicles. Shoot, one of my customers ran an 11.72 in his reg cab long bed with that cam, LQ4, Long tubes and meth.

I'm wondering if the clogged cats could have been what led to the damage you discovered in your previous motor?

Wouldn't doubt it. Severely restricted exhaust and WOT boost would definitely have raised the combustion chamber temps pretty high and probably caused detonation.
