A simple thing you can do is unplug all your connectors and spray them with Deoxit or other type of contact cleaner. Could be oxidation on contacts or not, but a good thing to do anyway.
even if it appears 'clean' it still can have oxidation mciro film it's working with 5vDC so even small resistance changes can cause issues

clean each with electrical cleaner or 91% iso (ISO and distilled water check the label before buying should only be the two ingredients )

*DISCONNECT THE BATTERY* so you don't accidentally short things out

this appears clean but even a slight micro film is causing an issue .. for me..

a cheap tooth brush did the job just be gentle but firm so they don't get bent

Just a different path in case you need different ideas.

I had horribly rough idle symptoms similar to yours (with misfires) and i chased my tail for a long time. I then experienced an episode of an engine de-rate due to a mismatch between the
throttle position sensor (petal) and sensor in the throttle body. I took a gamble and replaced the throttle body. while doing that i realized i had a couple broken manifold bolts. I fixed those.

After that all my rough idle issues went away.

Thanks for the info.

I think I'll spray around a bit looking for vacuum or intake leaks this weekend. Cylinder 4 is the misfire leader, so I'll see what I can find over there.

Update:

No discernible change in idle when spraying carb cleaner. I think I'll replace the plugs in the near future and keep my eyes, ears and Torque app open for more evidence of problems, if they crop up.

I also bought a fresh can of contact cleaner, so when I am under the hood I can spray some connections. For now, the new can is on a shelf next to an older, still nearly full can that I forgot I had.

I appreciate all of the good information and helpful suggestions.

Are you able to look at fuel trims to see if you’re running rich or lean? A vacuum leak could be toward the bottom of the intake (old gaskets) where it’s hard the carb cleaner to get to, which could still hide a leak.

Have you checked all vacuum connections to make sure you don’t have a leak somewhere?

A tune up may help. Poorly installed wires or broken spark plugs can cause similar issues.

I think your year still came with an external fuel filter, so if that hasn’t been changed then it may be worth a shot. While on this note, check your fuel pressure to be within spec. If there are issues with the fuel regulator/pump/etc. and the motor isn’t getting enough fuel, then it can cause your issue.

Thanks for your input. I appreciate the thought that you and others are putting into my truck.

I can see fuel trim info. I have not reviewed it, mostly because I'm not sure I know enough about what values I am looking for. I'll read up a bit.

I am fairly certain that I did not check all vacuum connections. I wasn't smart enough to review diagrams to plan all the connections to check. I'll plan ahead better the next time I poke around under there.
