Does anyone have any advice for how to fix this problem, the title says it all, the park lights randomly won't turn off...

Today, (past 24 hours, foot of heavy wet snow, chinook happened and lots melted) after driving around, I got home, turned truck (1994 Yukon) off, and went inside, about 5 hours later, buddy shows up at my house saying my lights are on (either didn't notice or they weren't when I went in) and so I came out hopped in the truck and went to push switch, lo and behold it was off, yet the lights were not...

I've run out of ideas, have disconnected and reconnected battery, pulled dash apart (figured switch connection may have magically came loose or something) and still nothing, I'm going to reconnect battery and run for half an hour (incase wet wires in engine bay) but other than that, I'm right out of ideas, any help (PLEASE) would be greatly appreciated...

I might as well explain that plan 'run and dry engine' was bust, didn't help, ran the truck for almost an hour, and the lights still won't go off.

I've scoured the internet for around two hours, and the only thing I've possibly come up with is that the switch and relay may need to be replaced...
I dunno tho, because park lights and headlights are on the same switch, but headlights work (go off and on) but park lights just stay on regardless of what is done to the switch... That and if the switch is disconnected with the headlights running, they turn off automatically (severs the connection) where as the park lights stay on (as though the connection has been made somewhere else)...

This leads me to ask a slightly different question, where could such a connection be being made, where are likely spots for me to check, I'm not the most mechanically inclined, but I can follow wires and find things, I'm just really strapt for cash right now, so I don't have the money to pay some mechanic god awful rates to get it fixed, and I REALLY don't want to carry pliers around with me to disconnect the battery every time I park...

So again, someone please help...

sounds like the switch is wet or melted. pull the switch out and inspect it... disconnect your battery to save it.

Switch is good for the most part, but somewhere there is a BAD connection either with the relay, or relay to switch, I have got it working now, but both are going to need to be replaced soon...

Thanks guys

Mine was brake fluid running from the slave cylinder down the fire wall onto the switch thats on the brake pedal causing it to short.i unplugged the swtch harness and sprayed with brake cleaner and then dried it out plugged it back up and all is good and still is.racked my brain too couldnt figure it out but sure enough thats what it was for sure.you could shine a light on it and see a couple little drips of brake fluid
