Went with this cam
http://www.speedengineeringlsx.com/comp-lsr-cam-219-227-607-614-112-lsa-54-456-11

These Lifters
http://www.speedengineeringlsx.com/comp-oe-replacement-hydraulic-roller-lifters-850-16

Pushrods
http://www.speedengineeringlsx.com/comp-lsx-chromemoly-pushrods-7400-stock-length-7955-16

If you can find a valve spring kit then get the kit. If not you can part it together. I went with the PRC Dual Spring kit. This kit http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/products/PRC-Double-Valve-Spring-Kit,-Good-up-to-.650"-Lift.html Good up till .650 lift

For parting it together.

Springs good up to .600 lift
http://www.speedengineeringlsx.com/comp-cams-918-springs-beehive-max-lift-600-26918-16

Valve stem seals
http://www.speedengineeringlsx.com/ls1-valve-stems-seals-511-16

For the 918 springs
http://www.speedengineeringlsx.com/comp-cams-titanium-retainers-918-springs-772-16

For 918 springs

If you need to go with the Dual spring set I recommend the PRC kit. It comes with everything you need. Just get the pushrods and lifters. I personally didn't get lifters but if you have a higher mileage get them (peace of mind).

Replace all the gaskets that you will be touching (water pump (2), timing cover, front seal, head gaskets if you take heads off (I didn't)) Fluids-coolant, oil (make sure you get zinc additive for the first 2-3 oil changes), gonna need a qt of trans fluid if you taking out radiator.

That's all I can think of right now. Any other questions just ask.... been all inside these motors.

I really just want to get better performance then stock overall. Im not trying to go crazy with it. Im thinking about a good balance of power and torque. More of a sport feel then a muscle car... if that makes sense. :p

Make sure you tell them that when you do that questionnaire for comp or whoever you ask.

There is more to it than just filling out a card and having comp grind you a cam. What are your goals for the truck. Do you plan on putting a stall in the tranny. What other mods do you have. Do you even have long tube header. With out supporting mods, when you swap in the cam you can only expect to get 10-15 more HP. The truck will also need to by dyno tuned so it will drive correctly.

In your case i would not even bother with a cam. Get what are called bolt on mods.
1 Full exhause with long tube headers
2 Port and polished throttle body.
3. Under drive pulley,
4. cold air Intake
5. LSX intake manifold
6. Full dyno tune.

You can expect 30-40 increase in RWHP with this list. If you want more HP expect to spend another 2k for heads and cam. You will also need another 2k for a tranny that can handle the HP.

ls1tech.com has a wealth of knowledge.
