I broke down and wired it to the reverse lamp, and it worked for about 10 minutes. I had it in reverse and was gonna snap a pic or two and it went out and back to the same staticky lines I had before. I have no idea at this point what is up. Hooked directly to the battery for test, and it worked fine and never went off. It's like the power is fluctuating in the wires and causes it to flicker out. Making me wonder if there's a battery or alternator issue keeping constant 12v going. So much of the Denali is electric, it wouldn't surprise me if it's all just making the system strain a bit.
Picked up an OEM looking Backup camera worth $700 for $30 :)

How are you splicing into the wires?
Cut some insulation off the power wire to the reverse lights, then wrapped the power wire to the camera around the exposed section of wire. Taped it all up.

Well I just ended up wiring it into the reverse lights and now everything works out fine! Just towed my first car with it, 1982 Lincoln Mark VI. From Harlingen, TX to Houston, TX

Yeah, I'm going to go buy a couple of those today and see if that helps. I'll probably move the ground as well and see if that helps at all. About the only good thing is that everything is all wired and tucked away now, I just have to get some steady power and a good connection I think. Hopefully one of those splicer things will solve the problem.

Well, it was worth a shot. That didn't work, either, and now my screen won't even flicker or have static like before. Nothing at all. Just a blank, dead screen. I give up. I'll leave the monitor in there to fill the hole, but I'm not messing with it any more.

I wish you lived close to me. I'm OCD about that stuff. You wouldn't leave my house without that thing working.
lolYeah, me too. If it's in the shop any time soon for electronic upgrades, I'll have them look at that, too. I just can't take any more time fiddling with it. I think another tear-down and failure would result in a catastrophic drop-kick, anyway.
