well when the buyer finds it's defective, they're gonna be $130 pissed instead of $30 "inconvenienced"

Exactly.

I'm relieved that these were only $30. I'm guessing that's the reason they were so heavily discounted.

I think I may know why some of you are getting the static, or at least it's something to explore a little further. First off, I have mine spliced right into the lines for the left reverse light. I have my perimeter lights set to go on when I unlock the truck with the key fob. When that happens, the camera will also turn on as a result do to how it's wired. Now when this happens, I get the static lines across my screen, but as soon as I turn on the truck and put it in reverse, it works perfectly. So I'm wondering if any of you that have the static problem are wired directly into a hot lead versus one that is energized once you have your truck running. The battery alone may not be putting out what you need depending on where you have the camera wired. The camera may need the little extra that the alternator provides to the system. Just some food for thought.

i know mine is not related to my wiring, i dont even have ti installed in my truck, i ahve it on a bench in my shop hooked up to a bench power supply that puts out 12v (and up to 32 amps) and mine works fine for about 10 seconds, and then goes blank, if i "squeeze" the controller box, it comes back on... seems to be something to do with the board flexing or something.

I was thinking along the same lines, but mine has the exact reverse problem. When it did work at all, which it doesn't now, it would work when you first put the truck into "on" or "run" or whatever key position it is that turns the electrical stuff on. This is when I had it wired to be on all the time. Then as soon as I started the truck, it would quit working and get the static/horizontal lines things. When I tapped into the reverse lights, it would flicker on for about a second right when I shifted into reverse, then blank out again. I think there is definitely something electrical involved, and it may involve minute changes in actual power due to alternator/battery/other electrical devices on. We checked my power with a voltmeter, and it all looked pretty constant, though.

I emailed the seller and told him neither worked. He issued me full refund and I still have the equipment if anyone figures out how to resolve the issue.

This is the exact problem I have.

It works until you start the truck and then it goes to static.

If I disconnect the camera's power wire and then re-connect it while the truck is running and there is static on the screen, it works for some reason.

There is constant voltage going to wire when the truck is on.
