Quick question what is the piston ring gap on a stock cylinder? I am going to use Hastings Rings. I have read that they don't come with instructions any more.

I'd stick it in the bore and measure, If 15 thou or more I run with it. If under that I'd do more research.

My concerns were taper wear in the bores due to milage. If the cylinder wear in the bore is out of tolerance, no measurement of piston ring gap will be correct.

If you haven’t opened the box of rings or dirtied them you can return them for oversize if needed if … taper in bore is over .02

The piston rings will have a set of gap for each application on the instructions. Then there's specified different gaps for compression ring, second ring and oil control rings.

So read the instructions or get ahold of them if you haven't already bought the rings.
