Let hope this turns out the way I hope it will....

I'm using PlastiDip (homedepot ~$6.00) to paint my GMC logo on my grille. Thanks to Aquinas's various user reviews on this product, I decided to go with it. Just read about it this morning here on TYF. Bought some this afternoon, along with some painters tape, and the first coat has now been applied.

The nice thing about this product is it can come right off whenever you are ready to move on to a new look. It appears to be quite durable, also.

Painter's tape surrounding entire grille (in case of over spray, plus it is kinda windy out today. I may have gone overkill, but never hurts to be safe)

Per the directions on the bottle of PlastiDip, i'm going to wait a few hours before I apply the second coat. It recommends 3-4 good coats to get it to the proper thinkness. So.....I'll should have some more pics of the the 2-4 applciations and the final product later this afternoon or this evening. :) :) :)

What color did you use? From the first set of pics, it looks like a silver color. But the finished product looks more like black. I looked up the Plasti Dip website and they didn't seem to have many colors.

I have a Silver Birch Metallic hoe and the colors they showed don't seem to go. But I don't think the gold bowtie (front or back) goes with the color.

The color i used is matte black. It actually comes out as a dark grey rather than black. Which is what I was actually hoping for. My Yukon is the dark smoke color, so it goes very nicely. If this plastidip lasts well enough on my decal, I may consider it for some other exterior projects.

It seems you're right regarding their color options.

I didn't use any clear, none needed. I'm sure you can use clear on it though..

The benefit of plastidip is that it can peel off when you want to remove it.

I searched on yahoo for this stuff and I found some posts on other car forums. I definitely have a few things I would like to try this on. Also some people did clear over it since they didnt like the matte finish.

Do they sell the white at Home Depot?
