Please in the name of all that is right, can we get rid of the triple honk already?

No. If you leave the vehicle with the key fob in your pocket while it is running and close the door, it triple honks.
My key always remains in my pocket, it never comes out until I take it out to unlock the door to our house.
Times of annoyance (all while the truck is left running)- getting out to get our mail, hopping out to check the straps on our atv/boat, hopping out to hand my daughter's lunch to her that she forgot prior to boarding the bus, running into the garage to grab something before leaving,...these are only instances off the top of my head but it happens more often than that.
Sure I could turn the truck off every time prior to exiting or leave the drivers door hang open.
But you guys can't tell me you never leave your truck running while you jump out to get something real quick.
And no, it cannot be stolen while doing such because the key is out of the vehicle.

I guess I have noticed these instances more during the past couple cold weather months.

If it is outside the vehicle and honking at you, I think something may need to be adjusted. I don't believe what you are experiencing to be normal operation.

As for taking the vehicle without the key in it... I am pretty sure you can. At least other vehicles with key fobs allow you to. Of course you are super screwed if you turn off the car when you get to your destination and realize you left the key at home!

OK let's try something a bit more simple: What about a key card that unlocks your hotel door? No physical metal key or lock cylinders there...that must be relegated to "magic elves" in your mind, right?

Look, you lost the argument a long time ago...now you are just looking foolish. Like you, I have worked on plenty of old cars in my lifetime. Unlike you I am familiar with innovation and the associated terms.

As for off topic, you obviously forgot it was your brilliant post that accomplished that. You shot with your 50 Cal and missed. I had to correct you with my Nimitz class aircraft carrier.

I have a '16 Yukon XL Denali and it doesn't do that. I leave it running all the time to drop off the kids in daycare. Are you sure the option that reminds you to take your keyfob isn't active? Sorry but it's 6am and I can't remember the exact option or where it's found..

I did some experimenting yesterday and it does allow you to drive away in the truck if it is left running and the key fob is not in the vehicle.
With all the security features, I am surprised by this. I would think it would turn off if one tried to take the vehicle out of park with the engine running and key fob missing.

It will allow you to drive away--you just can't restart. This is also a safety feature in case the vehicle can't "see" the fob for an intermittent time while driving down the highway (low batteries or whatever).

It is curious it does not happen to some. Mine does it sometimes but not others? I know it is partly related to shifter position (park vs neutral), but I also wonder if parking brake has anything to do with it?
