At the point of getting rid of our 2016 Denali

Sorry for the newbie question, but doesn't the mag come with a controller in these trucks? Mine is a 16 LS which was ordered with the 20" wheels and rides great, but I don't have the mag on my Tahoe, hence my question. However, I do have it on my 16 Z51 vette and it is fully controllable, ranging from tour to sport to track. This is one of the best options GM has created as it's an incredibly different car in tour mode vs track mode. My wife gets sick in the car in track mode (I also have the stiffer factory competition seats in it), but absolutely loves the car in tour mode. I'm having a hard time understanding why GM doesn't install the same controller in a $80k truck giving the driver the option to choose the ride

I've considered trying a different set of wheels and tires. If I could get the dealer to swap out a set, even if off a used car. It would be nice to know. We have Dueler tires. We have always used Michelin tires. If I thought it would fix it, I would gladly buy a set. Hate to invest a grand into tires and it not fix it.

I think the Bridgestones are a decent tire, but the compound could be a bit hard for longevity, I know the Michelin tires are probably the most expensive, and wear out probably a little quicker, but Michelin is known for their soft compound tires that ride and handle the best. Again a tough gamble with a truck you are at the point of wanting to get rid of...it really would be helpful if the dealer could assist with road testing even a used set of 20's.

Another suggestion to try some 20's as so many people with these trucks plus size them, is to maybe talk to a tire and wheel shop and see if they have any take off wheels and tires that they could put on for you to test drive? I think we are states apart as I am in SoCal, but my take off 20's are sitting in my garage with sensors and all still in them and I would be totally willing to let you try those if you were close by...sorry you're going through this hassle, but maybe checking with some tire and wheels shops for take offs could be useful, also maybe check with a few of the Chevy and GMC dealers to see if their parts and service department use any specific tire and wheel shops for their aftermarket service...out here we have loads of Tire and wheel shops that service the car dealers and always have take offs. Just an idea.

The Premier trim has the magnetic ride. You can get a loaded LT that has ALMOST every feature the Premier has but without MRC.
That's exactly the direction I went, and I did avoid the MRC on purpose. I had a bad experience with a high-tech suspension on my last BMW and decided to avoid it this time. The mechanical suspension on the LT is fine; I may see about adding a larger sway bar someday.

Yep, I felt as though the suspension on the LT suited my needs just fine. Then when comparing the cost difference between a loaded LT and what a loaded Premier offered and came equipped with, I couldn't justify the extra money for what it would buy me. Honestly that was a first for me as I almost always go for the top of the line trim and check all the option boxes for the vehicles I buy just for the Tahoe, I just didn't see it being worthwhile...plus some of the posts I was reading about the MRC made it that much more of an easier decision.

As mentioned. We would gladly switch back to our 07. The ride was fine. I'm going to see if I can find a set up 20" wheels and tires to try.

When purchased @ 96k the 20’s on our 08 Nali XL Speed rated V. They were new and the OE size is 275/55/20. They road nice but had tons of roll for a new 55 series tire. Could be time for new sway bar bushings and end links too.

Tried a set of Toyo Z rated tires in the same size and the aggressive tread was a little noisy. Ride improved though. Recently bought a set UHP for the wife’s Convert Beetle 225/45/17 for $50 ea. Made by Sentury. The sidewall is really stiff and has a 500 treadwear rating. A hard compound W rated, but damn quiet.

Just found the same Sentury tire in the OE 20” Denali size was $78 ea shipped from discount tire direct on eBay. Same W rating and almost eliminated the roll but retained the huge 55 series sidewall to absorb all the road imperfections. It’s a damn near perfect ride on the magneride set up. Just as quiet as the 17’ on the Beetle.

Our AWD really eats front tires up with city driving. It seems the W rated tires will endure more scrubbing and lose the body roll at a flipping phenomenal price. They’re made in Thailand.
