Has any one found a way to improve the visibilty of thegauges ? I have a 2007 Yukon and find the backlighting of the cluster very dim during the day. When it's overcast, the gauges are difficult to see. No problem at night, then it works fine. I had the dealer replace the cluster under warranty, GM had a TSB about this, but it didn't really improve things.
I've seen other posts here complaining about this and wondered if anyone had found a solution.

I always turn on my fog light switch. That then turns on the cluster backlighting.

It seems backwards, but before i had my windows tinted (20% up front and 35% over the factory privacy glass), my auto headlights seemed to come on much sooner and seemed a little more sensitive to light. Now that my windows are tinted, I've noticed this same situation more.

Usually it doesn't bother me because I don't pay that much attention to what my speedo says. Go as fast as the traffic around you and you are probably close enough to the limit to not get ticketed.

If it does bother me I usually just do the same as JML07. It's not like those factory fog lights are good for much else.

After buying the suburban with one of those carpeted dash mats to cover the cracks. I've noticed that my head lights are on all of the time. Looking closer the mat blocks much of the light to the dash light sensor.

It made me think that you could try using various sized pieces of electrical tape to 'tune' your auto head light sensitivity to your taste.
