I just read this, and your response today about the oil change. You may just have a malfunction in the traction control. Bad sensor for wheel or shaft speed.

Are you familiar with the feeling from traction control activation? It can cut engine power; use the ABS to apply brakes to individual wheels, and make a jerky feel in the vehicle, along with the attendant noises from the brakes and pump.
Some of that not all of it. Traction control message comes on power gets cut it well only coast and only happens on start up. Doesn’t feel like any braking is taken effect. No I am learning this system. Only been through one little winter with it. Just know the noises of changing to diff modes of wheeling

No ABS codes however system went nuts when I was doing donuts with it last winter. But it reset itself after shut off.

Does it use abs senors then for wheel spin or is there another group of sensors for traction control??

You say "with Auto button". Does that mean you can select 2WD? If so, try driving in 2WD only and see if it still makes that noise. I believe your Transfer Case is worn out. When they're in "Auto" they constantly go in and out of 4WD causing premature wear. When the clutches are worn it then doesn't fully engage the gears. Just like that derailer sound.

Traction control uses the same sensors as ABS. One at each wheel.

I’m not certain if the transfer case auto 4wd control uses the wheel sensors, transfer case shaft speed sensors, or all of the above.

Sorry was incorrect in my discription of. I meant disable button for stability control. And no I don’t use auto button for wheel control always left in 2 wheel drive. I don’t use auto button.

I drained the transfer case oil and refilled it. Nothing seemed out of place.
How much fluid did you get when you drained it? Was it clean? Did the case appear to have fluid on it anywhere? With that mileage I would think you could grab the front output shaft and feel play where it goes into the end of the case.
