I’ll also look into finding an autocal for the tune possibly. If my friend with HP tuners falls through that will be the route I go. I do understand that the vehicle needs a tune just to clarify and I have had the intent to get it tuned from the start. But I can tell the problem is of a mechanical nature. My dad has a buddy that’s a tech at a local shop that will stop by and look at it tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a quick diagnosis but I have a feeling that it’s not gonna be an issue or two wires being switched backwards (tho that would be awesome lol). I really think I’ll find the issue in the phaser. And if it is torn up like I’ve seen others before then I’ll make an attempt to slap the old phaser on and see if I can get it on the second try before buttoning everything back up. Fingers crossed. If all else falls I’ll get a VVT delete kit and just live without. I’m sure I probably won’t notice it not being there.

with the vlom unplugged it defaults to 4 cyl mode...even though youve physically removed those parts, it also cuts fuel to those cylinders.
I’d never read that before but after reading into it, it seems you’re right. I’ve got my tuner swinging by later. This might be all I needed.

Did everyone soak their new lifters in an oil bath/tub before the install?

I dropped my new LS7 lifters in oil jug with fresh oil for 48 hrs before reassembly

My OEM GM lifters soaked in fresh oil for about a month. I also used an old push rod and pressed the plungers in them to push out the air until they were solid. I like my overkill for assembly and first start. It's only overkill until it isn't.

A completely primed motor makes for a nice first start up
