I need to change my Power steering cooler. Was also recommended to change the pump because of the mileage, 190*** miles. It is must likely the original pump, but It still works. Is it smart to change the pump as well?

Is your P/S cooler clogged or leaking? It wouldn't be a bad idea at this point to replace pump for reliability, if unknown history. I plan on doing the Hydroboost conversion when it's time for mine.

Were I you, I'd
*add a filter between the new power steering cooler and the line that feeds into it
*buy a new power steering pump, but not install it yet (they are not going to get any cheaper)
UNLESS your old power steering pump shows any signs of problems

Plenty of power steering pumps last over 200,000 miles, some far past that.

If you replace your power steering pump, I wonder if you can have your old one rebuilt,
in case the 'new' one turns out to not be of lesser quality?

@justirv no its not leaking, everything works, its just old.

Any tips on what brand I should go for? ReManufactured or brand new?

I haven’t looked close at my current pump. But rockauto has option with 1 pressure line and 1 or 2 return lines. With our without hydroboost/what is it?
