Why would I loss seat of the pants power & more importantly to me, throttle response when I installed a new CIA? The engine is a 6.0 Lq9.
Thanx in advance.

03 Cadillac Escalade 6.0 Lq9. Magnaflow cat-back exhaust.
I went with the aFe stage 2 dry filter. It had great reviews including my exact make model & yr. It has all the sound of a CAI. My power is there, just way down in the pedal now. Not responsive at all like it was stock.

You need to get a tune and then you will love it! I had the same problem when I first installed my CAI, sounded meaner but that was about it! Always felt like I lost a bit until the tune then all was way way way better!

Thanks guys. Come to think of it I always have had tunes on my other truck with CAI. Never had a custom tune though. How does that work with smog laws? In California they alway reset set my ecm when I get it smoged. So Blackbear vs. Hypertech (handheld)?

I'm all for a tune (as I have a BB one) BUT it's not necessary for a cai. It's recommended...but not required. I ran my truck with a cai for a long time before getting my tune & never had a power issue. I have never ever had an issue with a cai on a stock tune....mult trucks, OBS, NBS, etc...

Doesn't hurt IMHO to reset the computer (disconnect batt & wait 15-20 min), reconnect, let the computer sort things out.

Double check all the connections, clamps, etc...maybe clean your maf.

Works fine in CA...I'm in CA but have never had anyone reset my ecm. Unsure why that is done...

Any chance you opened your throttle body butterfly while changing to your CAI? maybe just to look inside? you might try a throttle relearn to see if that helps.

^^^ Still the same results.
So I can't wait till January for a BBtune. So I'm gona reorder it 2maro. Any thoughts on the "traditional" tune vs. the "tune by cable" that they offer?
