So maybe paying a little over sticker now and getting it in the garage isn't quite so crazy vs I don't know when it will get here and ultimately what I will pay?
It's hard to tell the future and it's really a case by case situation.
I think if someone needs the vehicle as soon as possible, there's not a lot of options. Getting to the front of the line makes sense.
But if someone doesn't need the vehicle immediately and has an income stream that might benefit from a recession or deflation, it probably makes sense to wait 1-2 years for demand to rebalance against supply. Personally, I think we're going to be in a recession soon where demand for luxury goods will decrease. And within the next 6 months, GM (and Ford) are not going to be the only game in town for 1/2 ton full size SUVs. Now I think their products are still superior, but perhaps these days, the best deal you can get is the car you can actually buy. I think the market could change substantially in the next 6-12 months when you factor in the economy (demand) and competitors.
It seems like you're already established and you already have all the vehicles that fit your current and future requirements. So maybe your priorities would simply be a replacement of what you already have.Who shops for vehicles months or years in advance?
If I’m vehicle shopping it’s only for one of 2 reasons…
#1 My current vehicle has problems and I’m dumping it..
#2 It is getting aged and I’m trying to avoid big repair bills. In that case I may order months ahead, or pick one up off a lot If opportune.
otherwise, many situations and things can change in the middle months for me to invest a bunch of time in it or I could change my mind 3 times based on current situations at that time…
