Thanks…auto correct bit me there. My dealers custom order contract stated price paid would be MSRP at delivery unfortunately. If they weren’t the only one locally selling at MSRP (with actual allocations) I’d probably bark…

As of just now on Build and Price my LT MY22 is up at $1600. $100 more then Wednesday . The order I placed at the end of January including destination charge $64490. Today it would be $66515. $2025 is substantial money. The order workbench has a notation of price subject to change at any time.

Base price on Yukon XL Denali w/ 6.2 l from this morning's GMC Build and price is $77,995, my window sticker from February has base price of $75,700, so looks like Denali's are up $2295 since Feb. Ouch, but not surprised...they are selling all they can make (well, maybe ship), and inflation is real.

When building a 22 Sierra Denali, The Denali Reserve package now has no price, it says see dealer for pricing.

So maybe paying a little over sticker now and getting it in the garage isn't quite so crazy vs I don't know when it will get here and ultimately what I will pay?

It's hard to tell the future and it's really a case by case situation.

I think if someone needs the vehicle as soon as possible, there's not a lot of options. Getting to the front of the line makes sense.

But if someone doesn't need the vehicle immediately and has an income stream that might benefit from a recession or deflation, it probably makes sense to wait 1-2 years for demand to rebalance against supply. Personally, I think we're going to be in a recession soon where demand for luxury goods will decrease. And within the next 6 months, GM (and Ford) are not going to be the only game in town for 1/2 ton full size SUVs. Now I think their products are still superior, but perhaps these days, the best deal you can get is the car you can actually buy. I think the market could change substantially in the next 6-12 months when you factor in the economy (demand) and competitors.

If you wait too long and have a trade, your trade value could also tank since the market conditions are not right. I am getting a premium for a 3 yr old VW Atlas trade.

I paid what we agreed to off of the GM workbench order form from 10 weeks ago. I had everything printed out, nothing was signed but we had a gentleman’s agreement. When I got to the dealership for delivery, the buyers order was at the new price. I said no we are not doing that and I told you we were not doing that. We had a discussion, I showed the documentation, and we moved on. STICK TO YOUR GUNS PEOPLE. You are already paying MSRP or above!

Who shops for vehicles months or years in advance?
If I’m vehicle shopping it’s only for one of 2 reasons…

#1 My current vehicle has problems and I’m dumping it..
#2 It is getting aged and I’m trying to avoid big repair bills. In that case I may order months ahead, or pick one up off a lot If opportune.

otherwise, many situations and things can change in the middle months for me to invest a bunch of time in it or I could change my mind 3 times based on current situations at that time…

It seems like you're already established and you already have all the vehicles that fit your current and future requirements. So maybe your priorities would simply be a replacement of what you already have.

I've always factory ordered my cars so waiting months has been normal. I currently have a spare car and but I'm looking to gain certain capabilities. We have a mid size SUV but I'd like to be able to trailer my track vehicle on a flatbed tilt trailer using a 1/2 ton full size SUV. It's a preference and not an actual necessity so I am able to wait until the timing make sense. We considered a 1/2 ton pickup truck but we don't know if we'll need more towing capability in the future if I decide to continue and go with an enclosed car trailer. (Yes, you may technically be able to tow an enclosed with a 1/2 ton but an HD pickup truck is preferred). If the answer is yes, then I don't want to deal with a trade in and transaction cost in the future. Meanwhile, the 1/2 ton full size SUV can eventually become the replacement for the mid size SUV.

So whether I purchase a 1/2 ton full size SUV is about whether I can venture further than the closer tracks like Summit Point, VIR, Watkins Glen, PittRace NJ Motosports Park to Mid Ohio, Road Atlanta, Carolina Motorsports Park, Lime Rock Park, and some other tracks in Canada.
