Maybe a dumb question coming from California where the AC is running in my truck about 9 month out of the year.

So, now that it is getting cooler and I am running my heater, do I leave the unit on "Auto" with the snowflake showing for the AC, adjusting the temperature up accordingly, or do I turn the AC BUTTON (snowflake) off to just run the heater?

Thanks in advance.

I believe the best way is to leave the snowflake on as it will help control humidity inside the cabin and keep the windows from fogging.

You still want it to "condition" your air, whether it's hot air or cold air.

I live in south dakota where my heater is ran 2/3 of the year and I don't see a real need to keep my AC on unless my windows start to fog up. You are kinda just wasting your gas millage leaving your AC on when its not hot or humid. Everyone else I know around here does the same thing I do.

It's also much drier in SD, and when it snows it's not just some soupy mix. It's SNOW. But the ac will help with the windows and getting in and out and dragging the snow in with you. It will melt, and that's more moisture in your truck. Also, the mpg difference isn't really that much in the winter. The ac will cycle much less.

Snowflake showing on LCD screen means a/c is off. Also agree with jake.

You sure? Because once you turn the AC off, the snowflake disappears.

Therefore I would imagine that the snowflake on the screen means to AC is on.

They changed this in 2004. It was backwards in the 2003's with the snowflake icon.
