Purchasing Water Pump

There are two different option for my water pump. Any way to know which is the proper one before removing the old one?

Just tell em what motor you got and should be straight foreward or pull it outside of the store lol

friendly local owned parts store where I buy everything is going to let me take all options of pump and belts

its also recommended that you replace the thermostat housing when you replace the water pump

perfect time to check & replace the belts if needed

just did mine last month, the hardest part of it was removing all the plastic shields to actually get to the pump

& if you still have the stock fan I think its a 1 1/2" wrench I used to remove mine

What model year is your rig? 2000 had a mid year change from the old body to the new body style. Mines a 2000 nbs but when looking for parts I always say its a 2001 so I don't have to explain it to the idiot behind the counter.

Thanks for all the responses. Turned out the different pumps were due to a different sized thermostat housing. I decided to go with an all new GM water pump with the new thermostat housing.

I ended up not really needing the new pump as the old one was fine (replaced it anyway). The gaskets were the culprit on the leak. The hose that connects to the reservoir and the heater core fell apart at the plastic connector as well. So there was more fun trying to deal with that.

My truck has the electric fans so I didn't have to deal with the fan. Biggest pain in the ass is the heater hose that has a quick connect at the firewall. I could not get that thing off so I had to splice the hose. I'll take it up to the parts store at some point and they can help me get that situated.

All-in-all it wasn't too bad. I have never done that before so thanks to the various youtube videos...
