I took a 450 mile freeway round trip today, some of which was through some steep mountains in NW AR. My trans did some weird things that I am wondering if normal.

When coasting down a STEEP hill about 70 mph, the trans would seemingly unlock the torque converter and I would get engine braking, like driving a manual trans. This would happen on the steeper downhills and it did not matter whether the cruise was on or not. Is this normal behavior for a 4L65E?
