Do you wish you had the quad captains?

Its odd, blackbook, kbb, etc doesnt list the middle captains as an option that effects value. It is listed as an option that increases the resale value for both the older and the newer models but not the '07s. Hmmm...

My first tahoe had a bench and my last '04 had captains and I def liked them more. Its much easier to get people into the back/third row and think it helped with the resale but, when I think about it, I rarely have that many people in my car and I didnt really mind the bench when I had it in my first tahoe. In fact, the third row was almost always sitting in the garage so I had more room for my system and other crap but maybe thats because I didnt know what I was missing until I had the 2nd row bucket seats.

The reason I ask is because one of the denalis on my short list has everything Im looking for except the 2nd row captains and if it doesnt effect the resale then maybe having the bench seat in the middle and removing the third row is the way to go.

Thoughts?

No, I don't wish I had the captain's. Before ordering my Tahoe LTZ I also looked at Yukons. If I remember correctly the captains are an option at about $500 even on the SLT and (I believe) standard on the Denali. Even though the captains are standard on the LTZ I wanted and ordered the bench seat. I will never use the third row seats so I took them out and wraped in plastic and put them in my attic. The bench gives me seating for 5 and to me looks just as good. I suppose the captains have a cool factor and may be a little more comfortable but I won't be sitting in the second row. I doubt it will hurt the resale value much down the road and if so it won't be by much. If you seldom use the third row the 60/40 bench seat will serve you well. Even though the second row seats are not cooled (LTZ) they still have the perferated leather (like the captains) to match the front.

Value is going to be in the eye of the beholder.

Personally, we wish we had 2nd row bench over the captains on our 05. Traveling with 5 people can be somewhat frequent and with the captains we have to put a 3rd row seat in for that. The 3rd row seats are never in unless they are being used, so when we have that 5th person it is a bit of a hassle to get the seats out (also stored in plastic in my garage loft).

We are looking for 2011 models right now and a rear bench seat is on our want list over the captain seats.

Would you be willing to trade out your captains chairs for a bench?

We have captain chairs in the navigator and a bench in my escalade. I like the bench because of 5 person seating and I took the 3rd seat out for the system.

My wife was insistent that we got a bench seat instead of the captains. I had to literally drive to another state to pick up the truck with the color and bench second seat she wanted. The third row seats in these trucks are junk anyways, no leg room at all. I don't think resale value will affect the vehicle that much if it had bench or captains chair anyways.
