Question on upgrading 2011 Yukon Denali 20" factory to 24"?

hey guys,

I have a 2011 Yukon Denali with the factory 20" Denali chrome rims and tires. I'm wanting to move up to a 22" or 24" aftermarket black pair. With the autoride on Denali's will I need to mess with the suspension or drop to achieve the same quality ride I currently have?

I'm honestly not wanting to sacrifice ride quality just for a larger pair of shoes. My wife would kick my ass if I did this and it rode like shit.

Any input or suggestions- I'm a newbie at this and thanks in advance for the feedback and direction.

Hit up NORCALSS and he can dial you in right. I'm in the process of doing some stuff to my own. I just put on 22's and will be doing some suspension stuff in the next week or two. I am keeping my autoride as I also like the way it handles and rides. You can do a 2/3 drop and the ride should remain the same. You can also get helper bags for the rear if you tow and to keep that cushy ride. Don't worry.

Awesome! My concern was bigger shoes would equal worse ride. Am I correct that I would want to drop the car if I put on 24"'s or is that just for appearances?

I'll reach out to NORCALSS, and get the 411.

By going up to a larger size wheel, it will give a harsher ride due to the smaller side wall. The shorter you go, the harsher it will be. 22's should not be too bad. The 2/3 drop will give a nice asthetic appearance, but will also give better cornering if you add sway bars. You can maintain the factory ride quality with a proper suspension drop setup.

22s you will be fine. 24s she will notice, mine did anyway. Been down this road many times. I have 22s now if that tells you anything.

Haa! Exactly- did you upgrade the suspension with 24"'s? I don't mind investing in the drop if it gives me a better ride on 24's. If it's for appearances only then I'd rather add it to the supercharger/cam fund.

A 2/3 drop on 24s with a 295/35/24 tire would ride pretty much like stock. IMO it's barely noticeable in ride difference. But everyone is different

I have 24's with 305 35 24 and it rides smooth, quiet, but has a little shake at 70-75 that i think us a balancing issue. Im running Goodrides. Over bumps is where you see the biggest difference. I tow occasionally my fathers 80 Trans-Am WS6 with his dual axle trailer 160 mile round trips and its fine. My wife doesn't mine the ride.

Stock, non-air ride suspension. 07 Yukon SLT, 93xxx miles.

I think it a lot falls into how you drive. I drive a lot of highway, seems like I was always at the tire store getting them balanced. One set I had 295/35/24 and hit a hole in the highway at 70mph and bent a wheel so bad my tire went flat. I replaced that set with new wheels/tires, went with a 305/35/24 thinking more tire = better ride. Still a little rough and still had vibration problems at 65+. Sold those 24s, replaced with another set (strictly a cosmetic change) those were not any different than any other set. I traded the last set off for some 22" replica 375s and they ride perfect. I have a 305/40/22 tire on it.

I agree with Cody up there, everyone has different styles and you may not notice. The 24s were just to much maintenance/hassle for me.
