Just bought a new 2023 Tahoe Premium with 6.2L

1. After first drive engine reeked like burnt cable wires. Dealer said this is normal and will go away as it breaks in.
2. Transmission make a subtle whir as car speeds up. This is a 2WD. I think this is normal bit wanted to check.
3. Should I use premium fuel as recommended?

Thanks for any feedback!

1) mine did this for about first 500 miles…totally normal it’s oil residue on metal engine and exhaust parts, and any labels on warmer things burning off from mfg process
2) Normal too…I think…although I can hear nothing from my transmission
3) YES!

Mine smelled pretty rank for about a month when i first got mine, as i dont drive much. I also hear a ehine from the transmission when at low speed (under30) but it drives and shifts just fine. The 6.2 requires premium as far as i know. I have the 5.3 so i dont know for sure.

Welcome to the Forum. Keep asking questions so we can all share and learn from each other. I have never heard anything "unusual" from my 2022 Denali transmission. Works great. But these are complex machines so you do need to pay attention. Enjoy! Yes, premium fuel is recommended.

1st 1,800 miles, only smell our '23 brand new 6.2 Suburban 4wd High Country had was the leather seating, no "burnt" smells.. and I'm very sensitive to any smells.

Re: Transmission whine, I drove a new '23 Tahoe 6.2L High Country 4wd for a month, and yes its transmission had a noticeable whine while shifting, sounded like a bearing or something wound too tight.

Someone accidentally filled our '22 Silverado 6.2L work truck with regular gasoline and it ran a little rough, very noticeable especially while idling, acted "out of tune" and its tachometer danced around (when idling).

My 2023 Tahoe does not recommend premium fuel. Have I missed something?
