My only question is would the bearings in the alternator support a stretch belt?

dunno... would a stretch belt put that much more stress on it then the spring tensioner?
I don't know for sure, but my mind says they're tighter. I've been wrong before.

ya one with a smaller case, didn't know you were adding electrical stuff though, the oem one on my 18 silverado has a fairly small case and it's still 160amp but I took it off and put on a 240amp.a smaller what- alternator? prob is im adding abunch of electric crap lol, was prob going to get a higher amp one in the same case eventually
with the bracket how it should be and shortest belt possible it would distort the boot all the time but i think the shaft would still spin, could prob run it like that with no boot and be ok
