Hey Guys & Gals-

Can anyone help me out and tell me which Gatorback Serpentine belt I need?

'01 Tahoe LT
5.3L 4x4

I've looked on a few websites and can't tell for certain which I need. On SummitRacing it looks like there are at least three different options.

Sorry if this is a rookie/noob question.

Thanks

Look on www.rockauto.com They make you select you vehicle and then they tell you which ones are available. They offer Gatorback belts. I ordered a set for mine. Rock auto is one of the best online parts stores.

Neither. Run a Gates. Gatorbacks are garbage.

Thanks fellas.

Don't know why I didn't look on RockAuto first. They sure made it a bunch simpler.

What's the story with the Gates vs. Goodyear Gatorbacks? It sure seems that a number of people on this site prefer/suggest Gatorbacks. Although I'll be the first to admit that I don't know much other than 1) No local parts stores stock them 2) the local shop was using Gates 3) at some point a belt is a belt ... anyway I'm all for learning from anyone who has knowledge and experience regarding this.

While I'm on the accessory subject, can someone tell me if I add the "overdrive alternator pulley" from BlackBearPerformance if that changes which belt I'll need?

Thanks again!

I used the stock size after switching pulleys. No problems

Gates is suppose to be better than oem, according to my bosses. In 2 1/2 years of working at an auto parts store I've never had one return. That goes pretty far when you consider I stock 6 dealerships (2 of which are GM) and many more shops with my stuff.

Gates are awesome belts, I had an old blazer with a big alternator that was throwing belts like they were nothing, even went through 3 different brands of belts before finding the Gates, haven't had to replace one since and that's been 5 years now!!

Gator backs have been known to break apart/shred. When I was looking for belts for my silverado alot of guys on Pt.net did not recommend them for that reason. I went with Gates. No issues. :)
