Whats wrong?

Nothing. Just about 1000 threads about adding friction modifier or not with certain fluids to the g80. 2000 threads about whether the g80 is a locker or a limited slip...

I have found the best info to be the many youtube videos explaining the operation of the g80, as it is a unique beast that is difficult to label.

As for the fluid (like I said earlier in the thread), you're going to hear..."I added it", "I didn't add it and it's fine", "I didn't use it, but got some chatter, so i added it", "certain brands have it in there already", and then some...

Best as I can gather in having read MANY of these discussions, use the AC Delco part# from the manual and be done with it. A nice gasket like a LubeLocker doesn't hurt. Make sure the fill plugs come out before you remove the drain plugs.

Buy a TruTrac if you want to abuse this rear end for the long haul.

I agree 100% and found this video helpful.

Gotta love the mfr video. The music is a little much....

"Centrifugal force moves the pawls outwards to engage the latch..."
And then.....BOOM! The pieces of gears are easily swept up with a standard push broom.....

Also love that they say "maintenence free". Lol.

I like these...

I have blown up one G80 and it wasn't the diffs fault. I like them. An engineering feat with very practical performance, at the very least. However, if romping is the plan, forget it. Put a TruTrac in there and tell your buddy with the gravel driveway to watch his paint job.
