Rear main engine seal replacement!

I'm a DIY-er and paid a transmission shop to do mine. $550 out the door 5 years ago.

Understand completely. Having the knowledge to do something and having the time or desire to do it are two different things.

I changed my rear main seal a yr ago. Here is the thread I did on the subject. Page 3 is about what I did to my tranny while I had it out.
