So I'm about to upgrade the stock headunit (Kenwood DNX692) and I'd also like to add a 8" sub in the back factory enclosure. I spoke with the shop who will do the work and they said the bass will be pretty soft because they would tune it to prevent rattle/buzz from the panels. I'm choosing this over a small separate box since I don't want any extra cargo in the back.

Has anyone done a sub in this area, how did it work out for you?

Thanks!

My buddy did an aftermarket 8" back there, sorry to say I wasn't impressed, I also did not want to give up cargo space - I spent the $$ and bought the Q-logic under the rear seat box, threw in a New Old Stock 10" Orion Extreme and man its amazing, it hits so nice at all volumes, threw a RF mono 500 watt amp to it, running it at 4 ohms so its pushing prob a little over 300 watts.

I bought this and could not be happier

You don't see it, doesn't even look like a sub enclosure and takes no room away.

If you do choose the stock location - post back let us know how it turned out

If your in texas you can come buy my custom center console! Lol.

Some people seem to be ok with a aftermarket sub in the factory sub box. Most seem to not be.
When I tried it, you couldn't hardly tell the sub was even on. And that was with 2 8s back there on 400 watts...

That setup looks pretty cool Coat! Thanks for sharing.

I went down to the shop today and went over everything. SUPER cool owner went over the factory location options with me and basically said the same thing that it wouldn't sound so great. We test fit a Kicker all in one 8" unit that will fit real nice under the seat. Got it scheduled to be installed this week. I'll post back with how it worked out. :)

Got everything finished up yesterday. Totally happy with the install and sound. The Kicker Hideaway was just right (plenty of bass) without sacrificing space. Nav, bluetooth, and backup cam are really nice finishing touches.

Do you have any pictures of your head unit installation? I'm about to do it, and would appreciate any tips or tricks. Wanting it to look as factory as possible.
