Anyone measured how much mpg decrease they get by using regular gas on the Denali 6.2 L engine?

My 6.2 (2010) has a noticeable performance difference between 87 and 93...it just doesn't have as much pulling power. It's a $.30/gal difference here so about $6 a fill up or about $30-$35/mo. I don't even think about it anymore....

I am curious about this as well.

I picked up my yukon last night, dealer put in full tank of gas but assuming dealers typically fill up all vehicles with regular.

Once this tank is empty, going to start with premium and see if I can tell any difference.

Just emptied a tank of 87 and filled with 93. Almost immediately night and day difference in throttle response.

This isn't something I would have guessed at all. Do you think it's similar on older 6.2L or something specific to the tune on 15+.

I am surprised too. Still too early to make a blanket statement with only 2500 miles on her. Best way I can explain it is my 2013 Denali drove normal on 87 octane and woke up with 92-23 like in race mode. My 2015i is sluggish on 87 and race mode with 92-93. There is a bigger difference with between the two grades than before. I have not payed attention to MPG as I think it is too early to truly access that.

Did you hear knocking with the 87 octane? I am also curious whether mid grade gas would cause a difference in performance/mpg.

No, she runs fine on the 87. Just not as peppy and fun.
