Whole thread on here for dash replacement and people are adding what year and where they broke and what state. I remember reading someone with a ‘13 just broke.... its sun/uv beating down into truck...depending on where you live. More south no garage/tint = broken dash no matter what year.

Ill try to find thread...

my 2012 is cracked by the center speaker, it probably cracked from the weight of the speaker

that's really disappointing to hear...when I had mine replaced back in 2014, the dealership told me MY2012+ had a new dash with different materials and structure to stop it from happening :(

What I find interesting about the supposed reinforcement in that picture is the fact that it isn't even in the area where that crack is. It's broken right out of the hole where the front flat piece has a clip that snaps into it. Then the crack goes towards the front of the dash where the reinforcement isn't. That's one of the areas where I added 1/8" steel rod and epoxy.

My 2012 was cracked around center speaker and passenger airbag. I did see a bunch cracked behind instrument cluster though.
Around all of the mounting points were broken also

Mine is cracked beside gauge cluster hump and right beside airbag in upper left hand corner. Looks like new bracing is in exact spot but still would be safe adding additional bracing I suppose.

Feel free to move if in wrong thread.

I have searched other threads and cannot find the picture or source of replacement dash for 2008 Tahoe. The picture showed the dash upside down and you could see were it was reinforced we’re they all crack. It was not a homemade reinforcement it looked to be factory molded into dash. I’m planning on opening the wallet to replace dash because I’m tired of looking at it and would appreciate if anyone can direct me to the picture or sources were one can buy the updated reinforced dash.
Have you looked at caps instead of replacing the full dash? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HS4S396/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A3A9TU4M8Z5VHK&psc=1

To me, those covers would always look just like what they are- covers. They're raised around all the openings like the airbag and vents and there's a lip where they meet up with the other parts. I'd like to see one in person though. It's definitely a much less expensive option but for me they would bother me almost as much as the cracks. I've never been able to just cover shit up unfortunately. I haven't even seen anyone on here try one but I'd like to see someone do it for sure.

The only one I have seen in person was one that didn't go all the way down... like this...

rps20180604_133950_267.jpg

It didn't look bad... except where it stopped abruptly on the ends.

I was actually delivering something to a woman's house who had a GMT900 and we got to talking and the dash was brought up and she said her husband had installed a dash cover and she let me take a peek.

If I did one it would have to be like the first one I posted.

It is a PIA and way too expensive to fix this though...just finished mine the other day on my CC. Anybody that's interested in my trials and tribulations with my dash, there's about 10 pages devoted to it in my CC build thread here:http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/thre...ilverado-build-aka-the-machine.100281/page-74. I first pulled it and attempted the repair with a plastic hot-melt staple gun and steel/ epoxy reinforcements but the plastic was so brittle that as soon as I put it back in, it broke again. Plus it never looked that great after the repair. Now it's done right.
