Hi guys! Mr. Lomax here. OK, I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe, 2WD, 5.7. I am changing the Crank Position Sensor, but ran into a brick wall. I removed this sensor, but the part that came out of the Timing Chain Cover was plastic, while the replacement part from Autozone, has a metal part wrapped between two pieces of rubber, with a rubber O-Ring in the middle. The replacement part will not fit in the cover, because of what appears to be a brass sleeve, that looks like it doesnt come out. The sensor is too wide. Does this brass sleeve come out, or will I have to remove the upper piece of rubber on the new Sensor?

Wish I could help, but I have never replaced a 99 crank sensor. Might have had more replies if you had not posted this in the 00-06 section.
