I got a question for the beat gurus. My 02 Tahoe only plays music on the pax side. I bought it this way from a buddy of mine. He said that the driver side stopped working when he put the stock headunit back in so it was just the stock headunit that is broken.

So I replaced the stocker with an aftermarket JVC headunit and the pax side still doesn't work.

I searched for answers and saw that it could have been the stock amp that is under the pax dash.

So here is my question: If I was to add a couple 10s and an amp, would the factory amp be replaced? I don't want to buy a factory amp just to replace it if I get some subs in the future. So if the factory amp would be replaced, I will move the subs up on the to do list.

Thoughts?

Thoughts?

You wouldn't use the factory amp to run subs anyways. Best way would be to new wires from the speakers to an amp and then rca's from amp to the head unit.

Yup, I agree that I wouldn't use the factory amp to run subs, but should it be kept in place for the regular speakers(ie door)?

Thanks Yates.

Next question, if I removed the factory amp, would I just splice the wires together like the amp was never there? Then the headunit would power the speakers?

Are you wanting to run new speakers off of an amp or just want all the speakers to work?

I would love to have all my speakers work right now. But I do plan on some aftermarket subs/amp in the future.

So I suppose I should have asked this: Does the factory amp generally get deleted when you install an aftermarket subs and amp setup?

Because if the stock amp is what is causing my speaker issues, then when I do my sub/amp(deleting the stock amp) setup, my issues would be taken care of.

get rid of all the stock stuff. stock and aftermarket don't play well when it comes to speakers and amps.

did you test the speakers, though? Sounds like theyre blown.

You are asking 2 different questions here. The stock door speakers have nothing to do with a sub. If you want to run a sub then you need an amp for you sub/s that is ran off the (usually) nonfader rca outputs. The door speakers should be run off a seperate 4 channel amp via the front and rear rca outputs or off the deck via speaker wire to speakers.

If speakers were blown they would still play just sound like poo, I would say the factory has problems.

The stock speakers are ran from the JVC headunit using the factory wiring and there is a factory amp that powers them.

QUESTION HERE---> If I add 2 10" subs and an amp for said 2 subs, I would not have to mess with the rest of the factory speakers right?<----- END OF QUESTION

I am asking this so I can figure out if I should replace the factory amp right now or not.
