Removing chrome fender trim, Pain in the ass!

I'm in the process of taking it all off since I'm painting it soon. Clean off any dirt then Spray the thread of the screws that are exposed with pb blaster and tap the head a few times to jar any rust.
Drilling it out works too but then the new ones won't bolt up.

They're a pain, most of mine broke off.
