Well today was an interesting adventure..... the time was here to tow our close family friends sea ray down to her new house in Orange County to store it for the winter. The boat that I get to wakeboard behind. Well unfortunately due to my last minute trip to the east coast I didn’t have time to properly get a trailer brake controller.
I picked up a cheapish one that was the only one available from my local Carquest, with no digital screen. And no harness options to make it plug and play on my truck.
With that being said, all I had to do was splice together four wires and the controllers instructions gave me exactly what I needed to properly do the wires to my trucks harness. I’m actually pretty proud of myself that it works correctly given that I absolutely hate messing with wires and I’m not very good at it.
Next issue, no solid mount spot.... I Didn’t have time to actually cross that bridge before picking the boat up so I just kept the controller in my lap basically! Lol. Newbie move I know....
At any rate, controller worked exactly as it should, the airlift bags are working well on the back end and I got the boat hooked up and rollin. Despite our boat mechanic having the boat to me two hours behind schedule.
Fast forward to about 45 minutes later, a third of the way down the mountain, my eye catches the forward trailer tire on the drivers side in my mirror. Damn thing looks like it’s almost out of air.... sure enough I pulled off into a big ass turn out and the tires bleeding air out. Whole thing is dry rotted and completely cracked open. So I call my AAA roadside assistance. There’s a spare on the trailer. I think no big deal, I’ll fill it up with air from the compressor I use to fill my air bags and my tires, while I wait for a truck truck to come down and I’ll have them change it.... wrong!! I get the spare off and start filling it and the spare is cracked as well and bleeding air out!!! And then AAA proceeds to tell me that my package doesn’t cover a trailer!!! It only covers my truck!!! FML!!!
So I call the boat mechanic, tell him where I’m at and what’s up, he says alright I’ll hammer down and get to you with another trailer spare and a floor jack. Two and a half hours later he gets to me, we have to move tires around on the trailer to get his spares to work, and the other three trailer tires all look as if they could give out at any moment! So extra spares on, back to big bear we go to drop off the boat to her house until we can get new trailer tires tomorrow! Holy crap! I’m wiped after all that!!

Still gotta haul the boat down Thursday to get her out of freezing temps after new tires. Ugh.....
On the upside I’m thoroughly pleased with how well my truck performed towing this whale of a boat today. No power issues at all up and down the grades. Transcooler is working excellently and keeping it cool. Brakes performing flawlessly! And the airlift bags kept my truck completely level and riding pretty stable the whole time! I love this truck even more and more all the time! Haha.

She sorta adopted my mom and I a few years back and does a lot for us haha. So I try to make it happen when she asks me to do something boat related. She pays for all the time and the gas, quite well actually. Lol.
