Replacing Exhaust Manifold Bolts

Im doing the same thing i have been thinking about this known problem.I only got the passenger side done so far.Alot of loctite on them from the factory.Was told not to use any on the new dorman replacement bolts i got.They are very tight in the head did seem to help a tad warming the engine up first.

Why would you put Dorman parts in when these bolts are known to break? Dorman is terrible quality, I won’t use their stuff except on easily replaceable non critical stuff. Definitely wouldn’t use their exhaust manifold bolts. ARP will never break.

Ok well i spent 30 minutes looking for the arp bolt kit-still cant make out which one it is.Looked on arp website sucks-looked at summit and jegs also nothing matches my year,make and model.So whats the part number

I used this kit on both my 02 and my 09.

Ok i just ordered them yes the ones i got are junk now that i read about them.Glad i only did the passenger side.I can feel the scrapes and busted knuckles coming.Should of asked before i bought those.ARP 134-1102

They sure look nice. You might want to consider replacing your Original heater hoses if you get the chance.

I just got a package of FEL-PRO bolts from O'Reilly, who knew they made bolts. Never thought about ARP. If my Stock ones lasted 20 years I think these should last as long as I will ever own the truck.

While ARP has the reputation and is rightfully earned, I cannot say anything bad about Fel-Pro parts at all. But Dorman, I would run away from them unless it is a fix to get ready to sell.

These R suppose to replace the stock bolts but have not used them yet. They are black bolts with a blue coating on them.

Again, if ARP is available and I am keeping the rig, I would do the ARP bolts but if I had these Fel-Pro bolts, I would not hesitate to use them. That is just my opinion. Fel-Pro doesn't make their own bolts, example-head bolts and these exhaust manifold bolts, someone does it for them. If I found out that Dorman and Fel-Pro get from the same place and are the exact same bolts but just look a bit different because of the bolt coating, well then I would stop using them and stop recommending them. Different suppliers can make different grades of bolts for different companies. IMO, except for Dorman and other off the wall brands of bolts, I would not hesitate to use the Fel-Pro bolts and torque correctly and I will sleep well at night.
