Resolved - Rear wiper arm quit - help with removal

Title says it all

This is what is left - which I believe to be part of the old wiper assembly. Do I need to get the nut thing off to get to the splines to install the new wiper? 2013 Yukon XL if that matters

Yes. If you don’t have a puller that fits/works, I’d take a dremel and cut the length of the “nut” on 180° from each other so you can remove it.

Had a similar experience once.

Fortunately, I was able to use a 4-1/2” angle grinder and cut-off wheel. Couldn’t imagine trying it with a dremel.View attachment 413379

Yep, I had to use a puller to remove mine the first time. Clean up that spline and lube well with silicon grease before attaching the new wiper blade, and you'll never have to cut it off again.

Reminds me of a guy who got upset in the drive through line behind me in our Audi allroad wagon. He got out of his truck, pulled the rear wiper off the car and started beating the car with it.

It was funny for exactly 1 second until the kids sitting in the rear facing 3rd row seat thought he was was going to get in the car.

All the windows were blacked out because in the Audi and the guy never saw the kids back there. Guys boss felt horrible and bought the family passes to Disneyland.

Got a new rear wiper too Had to use a puller that time.
